30 Days of Gratitude - Day 11

Monday, I made it.  We have two extra ten year old boys after school.  I was so grateful when they finally slowed down to eat and both said that my chili was "delicious".  I'm even more grateful that all my kids were in the room to hear these two boys say that.  I'm grateful for goals and hard work.  I need to do more of it.  I'm grateful for peaceful sleep and cute kids.  I'm grateful for November.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 10

Today I am thankful for the calm before the storm and my sweet family.  I will also be very thankful if the bathtub goo, that's Dallin's friend gave him, drains properly from my tub.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 9

Tonight I am grateful for a long overdue date with my husband.  We went here for dinner.  I had Mahi Mahi over Jasmine Rice.  We went here for dessert.  I had a sugar-free peppermint milk steamer.  A great way to relax with my hub after a long day.

30 Days of Gratutude - Day 8

Today was beautiful.   Fall and sunshine are a perfect match.  Once again I enjoyed the 5:00 hour this morning with friends.  I know I've said it before but it is a lovely time of day.  Still.  Dark.  Quiet.  It was 40 degrees this morning, which was perfect running weather.  Not too cold yet.  Warm enough to make you get toasty after you start to sweat.  I was able to attend the Veteran's Day assembly at the middle school today.  Alec's band performed "The Star Spangled Banner" and a march.  Alec and Olivia both performed with the school's swing team.  It was their first performance and they looked great!  I'm grateful for a dear friend who came and helped me with a large order of bookmarks that I'm working on.  Most of all we visited and let her baby entertain Dallin and his two friends, that I was watching while their momma is in the hospital with a new baby.  I was grateful for a fun, new movie, Turbo, that came in the mail.  Dallin got to watch that this afternoon while I stamped.  The kids have been busy playing with friends all afternoon and evening.  I love it!  I'm grateful that Costco saved me with snacks for visiting kids and Jace's basketball team tomorrow.  No emergency trip to the grocery store makes me happy.  It is the weekend.  Boy, am I grateful for Friday, these days.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 7

Today I am grateful for clean carpets.  Eleven finished bookmarks.  That I know when to walk away.  Rain.  Evenings at home. Safety as Greg travels.  Running.  Sore legs.  Orange Shoes.  A sewing machine.  Beets.  Kids.  Teenagers (ok maybe not grateful but I keep telling myself...they are pretty entertaining, anyway).  Talking to my mom.  Chubby babies.  Good night.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 6

Today I am thankful for the stillness of the 5:00 hour.  I think I've said that before.  I'm thankful for a huge order today, 85 bookmarks.  I'm thankful for another quick freezer meal.  Eventually I'll run out of them and have to cook!  I'm grateful that Greg and the kids kept making the "bottom" joke from "Despicable Me 2" while eating the rolls at dinner tonight.  I'm grateful for new days and forgiveness.  I'm grateful for lessons learned and re-learned.  Want to hear a really cool story?  Listen to this.  It is amazing.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 5

Oh, wow.  I'm trying to get in gear for my holiday boutiques.  I will be participating in four local ones this year. I'm excited to try a few new ones.  This means my busy season is now underway and things will be crazy until about December 22nd.  Gotta love it!
Today I am grateful for:
Hot yoga that was extra hot and friends to join me.
A dinner that I remembered was in the freezer.  Quick and yummy.
An organized inventory.  My first task of the day.
A husband who calms me and helps me realize that I can do hard things and that really, they aren't that hard.
Opportunities to step away and help others.
Cozy pajamas.
Time.
A daughter.
Vanilla Greek yogurt and home made, sugar free, applesauce.  Better than apple pie a la mode.  Ok, maybe not but certainly less guilt.

Good night.

30 Days of Gratitude - Days 3 and 4

Day 3: I'm always grateful for Sundays.  Especially the first Sunday of each month when we take time to fast.  This gives such a renewal of body and spirit for me.  I love to sit in sacrament meeting and hear testimonies being born and feel the spirit that comes when people share tender feeling about Jesus Christ.  I love to be in Primary and hear the children sing.  We are learning one of my favorite Christmas songs, "Could I hold the Baby".  Here the song here.  I love Sundays, too, because we get to be home as a family.  Sometimes we enjoy dessert with friends, which we did last night.  Yesterday, I was also grateful for our first snow, an early morning skiff.

Day 4: Today I am grateful for empty piles and replenishing.  I'm grateful for lessons learned from others.  I'm grateful for a still 5:30 am run and good women, who I love and admire dearly,  to share it with.  I'm grateful that Dallin helped me brave the grocery store, and encouraged us to park at Home Depot and walk to WinCo.  That meant carrying groceries back across two parking lots.  I'm grateful that my wall paper is down and paint samples are drying.  I'm grateful for Greg and my kids.  I'm grateful for a warm house on a freezing day.

30 Days of Gratitude - Day 2

Today was a great rainy Saturday.  I went to my kickboxing class, first thing.  I'm grateful for a healthy body that can do what I ask of it.  Afterwards, I ran home to grab Alec and take him to the church for his merit badge pow-wow.  He's getting close to being ready to work on his Eagle and I'm grateful that he is excited and doing it while he is young.  After dropping Alec, Dallin and I ran to the grocery store for milk and a few things.  Dallin was still in his pj's so I carried him in.  He clung to me like a little monkey and nuzzled my cheek and neck.  I'm grateful for that.  I took down the wall paper border in my bathroom this morning and cleaned it.  I'm really grateful to have it gone.  We went as a family to help clean up a yard for a service project with our ward.  I'm grateful to give my kids the opportunity to work hard and serve others.  I'm also grateful that we were able to pick the grapes from the back yard and juice them this afternoon.  I'm grateful for pizza for dinner so I didn't have to juice and cook.  I'm grateful for a wedding reception tonight so Greg and I could get out alone and have a date.  It was fun to visit with friends and eat a fabulous dessert.  All in all, a wonderful day.  Good night.

30 Days of Gritutude - Day 1

Greg was home sick with the flu today.  Today I am grateful for a husband who (almost) never gets sick and works hard to support our family in many ways.
A few of my usual holiday bazaars have fallen through for this year so I was expecting lower sales, and thus lower income for the holiday season this year.  Over the last week I've been contacted by two local Holiday Boutiques, that I wasn't aware of, asking for my participation at their event this year.  I was feeling like I needed to shake it up this year instead of doing the same boutiques, to increase sales.  I'm grateful for a little divine intervention with being introduced to new opportunities.
I'm also grateful for my yoga and running this morning and for good friends who both go with me and watch my little boy so I can go.
I'm grateful for Fall soup and rolls for dinner and the best green beans.
I'm grateful that I live in a neighborhood where my kids have endless amounts of good friends to play with.

Apple Streudel and Pumpkin Spice

Tonight we finally made time to carve pumpkins.  I'm turning the seeds into this lovely snack.  We are gearing up for tomorrow night's tricks and treats.  I'm mostly excited to be able to clean up and store the costume explosion.  For dinner we ate these fall treats.  They were wonderful.  I added pecans to mine and topped them with Salted Carmel Greek yogurt.  I bough a new wickless candle scent today.  My house smells like delicious Apple Streudel.  Today I tackled a dreaded 7 year project.  I removed the wall paper border from my bathroom.  That means new paint coming soon.!  I can't wait.

Best Concert of the Year

I am so excited!  Tonight is my favorite annual concert.  It's the 7th, 8th, and high school band concerts in the high school auditorium.  I love watching Alec play the drums in his school band.  It's even better now that they are able to play "cool" songs.  Watching the high school band is always a pleasure.  They really are good.  The marching band comes in at the end and lines the isles.  They are so loud that our ears ring and our hearts thump.  It's really cool.  Alec's band is playing a mix of songs from the movie "Cars".
Today I slept in until 6:45, at which time I realized I'd forgotten that the kids have Swing Team practice.  We scurried them out the door in time.  It's the one morning each week that Olivia is up and ready, with a clean room and made bed, on time.  I did hot yoga at 9:30, instead of 5:30, this morning, which was lovely.  I'm driving the preschool carpool this week so didn't have time for my after yoga hot Epson salt and lavender bath.  I missed it.  Dallin had a friend over and I sewed scarves and answered emails this afternoon.  The sun was out so I grilled chicken for dinner and served it with roasted green beans and sweet potato fries.
My Etsy shop is starting to pick up.  I have a few holiday boutiques scheduled and am hoping to finish in time to enjoy the holidays.  We are hosting Thanksgiving, which I'm so excited for.  I've been thinking about which favorite recipes I'd like to try, not just for Thanksgiving dinner but for the entire weekend while we have guests.
Greg and I have begun discussing what to get the kids for Christmas and what our family gift should be this year.  Some fun surprises are in the works.    Time to get ready for the concert.  I'm giddy.  a full report tomorrow.

Donuts and Bubbling Sewers

Today I had a lovely 5:30 am run in the rain.  It was still and warm.  I really did like it.  After the kids got off for school, Dallin and I went to Albertsons to buy donuts for Jace's class for his post-birthday treat.  We then dropped movies off at the library that were due.  Dallin loves to run them in all by himself and I love to watch him run and dilly dally to and from.  I can tell he feels so big.  We came home for an hour and then went visiting teaching to Sister Demourdaunt.  Dallin loves to go there because he gets to play in her toy room.  Today she offered him some candy from her Halloween bucket.  He also likes to cuddle on the couch next to me.  On the way home, as promised, Dallin and I stopped at the hay bale maze in downtown Eagle.  He challenged me to a few races.  It's hard to win when your opponent jumps the bales.  After lunch, I organized my scarves, in preparation for sewing them, and tackled my stack of paperwork while Dallin watched Finding Nemo.  After the big kids came home, we all went to Jace's class to take the donuts.  We had a clean-out-the freezer dinner of spinach stuffed ravioli, sweet potato and plain potato fries, and salad.  Tonight for FHE we went to the Nike store to try on basketball pants and had dessert at Kneaders.  The strangest thing happened tonight.  Greg received a call from a gentleman saying he was our neighbor Mark, or calling Greg by the name Mark.  He said his septic tank was bubbling poop up in the yard and his faucets were running brown water.  Greg told him our water is clear and he said he'd come down and fill up a bucket.  He hasn't come and we can't figure out who is in need of help.  Greg has walked and driven the whole neighborhood looking and we can't see (or smell) any trouble.  Maybe tomorrow we'll find out.  On that pleasant note, Good night.

This Weekend

We had a great weekend that was the perfect mix of fun and relaxing.  Friday evening we went to Alec's last Lacrosse game for the season.  They lost by two but had an amazing comeback in the second half.  We love lacrosse but enjoy a little schedule break when fall sports start to end.  Speaking of fall, our trees are dropping leaves like crazy!  We saw a noticeable difference today after returning from church.  On Saturday, we celebrated Jace's 10th birthday.
We had a fun day, which included a few school friends coming over to play for a bit.  I loved cooking in my kitchen while my kids and friends ran in and out.  We opened the costume bins and the creating started.  Saturday night was our church Halloween party.  I took a pot of soup for the dinner.  I tried a new recipe from the Our Best Bites Cookbook called Chicken and Wild Rice Soup.  It was amazing!  I don't see the recipe on their website but I highly recommend both the Our Best Bites Cookbooks.  Everything I've tried, from their cookbooks, has tasted is great.
The kids dressed up as Princess Leia, a DJ, and an army guy.  Oh, and a teenager.  Wait, that wasn't a costume.  Today I made Jace's cupcakes, since we had donuts at the party last night, and we shared them with our friends.  I used the same cookbook and made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting.  Both were fantastic.
This afternoon the sister missionaries came and taught us our fourth lesson, about the law of chastity, tithing, word of wisdom, and fasting.  It has been fun to enjoy these lessons with the kids and for them to see what missionaries really do.  Tonight I've been listening to The Piano Guys.  Check out their videos on YouTube.  I love the quote at the beginning of "Beethoven's Five Secrets".  I'm trying to design a piece of jewelry using it.  Good night.

Pewter....I'm in Love

Look what I made today.  I made several other pieces but these are the highlights.  In fact, these are the only pieces that got finished.  I have a new vendor, here in the Treasure Valley, who has started creating the molds for these pieces and pouring these by hand.  They are gorgeous and stamp like butta.  What else did I do today?  Boot camp this morning.  It was my last free pass.  I'm glad.  During a 45 minute workout period.  We were only exercising for 12-15 minutes of it.  The rest was the teacher arriving late, rests in between circuits, and explanations of the upcoming exercises.  I've missed running and will be glad to tackle it again on Friday.  I also spent an hour this morning in Jace's class room.  I helped several kids practice their multiplication facts, and practiced my own fire drill skills.  I listened to a conference talk today, but can't get yesterday's talk out of my mind.  I wonder why.  :)
Listen to yesterday's talk here:

Pears, Pears, Everywhere Pears

I spent the morning watching pears on a conveyor belt at the LDS Cannery.  It was a bit wet and cold.  It was fun after Greg arrived and we could pass the time visiting.  We were let go early for good behavior.  On the way home I went to Reggies Veggies and picked up a 25 lb. box of pears.  Apparently I've missed the local Bartlett season.  For dinner tonight we had this and it was great!  I'd use half the red pepper flakes next time.  We used steak instead of ground beef too.  Tonight I ran Alec to LAX practice and picked him up, then went back to pick up his stranded friends.  This Friday I'm running a scarf feature on the Belle Chic website, so I'm getting ready to mass produce these.  Watch for them here.  They are a really fun Fall accessory and add the perfect splash of color.  Yes, I realize that white isn't very colorful but it is the most accessible photo.
I'm up again early tomorrow.  It's my last boot camp class at FitMania, then I'm back to my MWF runs.  I've missed it.  I love being outside in the still, dark, morning.  It's peaceful outside at 5:30 a.m.  Like no other time of day.  Good night.

Monday Funday

Mondays are sometimes fun days.  Today Monday was lazy day.  Wait.  I woke up and went to boot camp at 6 am.  That's not lazy, but everything after that was.  Dallin stayed in bed until 9:50 (!) giving me plenty of time to catch up on email.  Greg had the laundry started so I just had to keep things moving.  No folding here.  I saved that for him.  After getting Dallin up and fed, I showered, then we left for errands (bank, post office, delivering Primary manuals, library, and groceries).  After errands, and laundry swapping, I stamped while Dallin watched a movie.  Then it was to the school and orthodontist with Alec.  Dinner was leftover Puerto Rican pork from yesterday.  This time we had it in tortillas with Brussels Sprouts and home grown Acorn squash baked in soy sauce and sesame oil and drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar.  Best Brussels recipe yet.  Tonight for FHE, Greg shared an excerpt from Elder Myler's most recent letter.  It was about praying with faith and the Lord answering that prayer.  Greg helped Liv with math, I was in and out getting Dallin ready for bed and making sure Jace knew why he was in time out without dessert.  The best part was buying Imagine Dragons concert tickets tonight to give Alec for Christmas.  He is going to be SO excited!  I can't wait.  I'm feeling sleepy at 9:32.  It's a good thing because I'll be back up at 4:40 tomorrow for hot yoga.  Ugh, sometimes I wonder why I do this.  Answer, it's just habit and what I do, at this point.  I feel like such a slug if I go a day without a workout.  Hopefully tomorrow I can slow down for a nap.  I will need it.

A New Necklace and the Perfect House

Here's what I was working on today.  A friend featured this necklace on her blog so I've been getting it up and ready to list.  You can find it here.
Olivia and I went Parade of Homing again today.  Ours was a lesser scale than with my mom last weekend.  I did, however, find the perfect home for our family, at this stage of life.  It's so hard to find a house with enough bedrooms and living space.  This one has a basement (Imagine that!) and I've found the basement to be the key.  This basement had a large great room for TV and games and three bedrooms and a bath.  The bath had double sinks and the shower and toilet closed off from that.  Perfect for my three boys!  Olivia gets the upstairs bedroom and bath.  It even still had an office for me.  See my dream home here.  I would however have to sell both the homes that we currently own and build this one in Eagle.  Sigh........
I was curious about which of my necklace received the most views this week.  Here it is, just in case you are curious too.  Holidays also equal Wedding Season and this has been a popular Mother-In-Law Wedding Gift for Brides.  You can find it here.

Friday

This morning I joined some fun friends for a 6 a.m. Fit Mania Boot camp class.  After four early mornings this week, I'm ready to sleep in tomorrow.  After the kids were out the door for school, I caught a hot yoga class with some friends.  I followed that up with an Epson Salt and lavender bath.  Heavenly.   Dallin and I had lunch then spent the afternoon playing games.  We had pancakes for dinner then watched Alec's Lacrosse games.  They won by one point in overtime.  Tonight we are snuggled down in our pj's and watching Pacific Rim.  I look forward to these relaxing weekends.  This is our first football-free weekend in a while and I am glad.  Today I made these for my "treat" and am enjoying them even better on round two.  Can't get enough pumpkin, right now.  This week I found this product and ordered more of Mrs. Meyer's products to try.  Cleaning never smelled so good!  This might just motivate me.

Girls Night Out

Olivia and I had a fun date tonight.  She typed her heart out getting caught up in her keyboarding class so she could be my date to the Mindy Gledhill concert.  What a fun way to spend tonight together!  You can see our videos and photos on Instagram.  Follow me at jessicabcall.  Here is the music to her new single "Pocket Full of Poetry".  Enjoy!

New Jewelry and New Cleaning Spray

This was a piece that I used in a custom necklace.  A woman contacted me wanting to make a piece to celebrate her BFF completing her fiftieth marathon.  It a quote from a poem that says "When friend meets friend, the word of salute is still 'Rejoice!'".

My little wheels are rolling.  These lovely charms came in the mail today and I can't wait to create with them.  Does seeing them give you an idea?  Share it in the comments below.  If I decide to stamp and list your idea, then you will get your necklace for free.

All in a days work......
As a side note, a friend tipped me off to this product today.  I bought the "Basil" flavor and fell in love. Have you tried Mrs. Meyers' products?  Which scent is your favorite?
